Cookbook Review: Rising Hope by Luminary Bakery

Today I am gonna be sharing with you a book titled Rising Hope by Luminary Bakery which I won as a giveaway prize from Harper Collins. I received the cookbook, a recipe card as well as a tray of delicious gluten-free plain brownie.

Being a competition entry junkie years ago, I was totally excited to win the prize as it had been literally years since I have won anything at all.

The front cover of the book is just eye catching and flipping through the pages I fell in love with the book immediately as I got to know more about Luminary Bakery and how it came to exist as well as inspirational life and some tasty looking recipes.

So thank you again to the team at HQ Stories for this fantastic prize and I can’t wait to get baking.

What I thought of the book?

Launched in August 2020, Rising Hope shares over 70 delicious recipes from bread, quick breads, cookies, tray-bake cakes, pastries and desserts.  The book starts off with an introduction by Alice Williams who talks about the London-based bakery was on a mission to both bake and empower some of UK’s most disadvantaged woman.  She also goes on to share the book invites the readers to some behind the scenes to learn some of their treasured recipes and hear the stories from some of the woman who have been supported by the bakery. Some of these woman have experienced extreme poverty, abuse and violence. The bakery aims to teach these woman how to bake and empower them through food and kindness.

I love cookbooks and I have read so many of them by now but this book grabbed my attention not only for the imagery but the stories as well. I also love how the bakery has used different combination of ingredients when they create a recipe such as Goats’s Cheese and Grape in a Focaccia, Carrot Bread with Nigella Seeds, Masala Chai and Berry Crumble Cake and White Chocolate and Black Sesame Cookies, Blueberry & Basil Pavlova. As you can see the flavours are unique and so interesting.

I also love that they have a special index (On top of the normal recipe index) so it is easy for you to locate gluten free, lactose-free, vegan, economical or quick recipes

As I reach the end of the book, the lesson I take with me is that Rising Hope shows how anyone, anywhere, can learn how to bake, grow as an individual, and share their experiences with those around them.

Signature Recipe: Cinnamon Swirls with Cream Cheese Frosting and Cheese Scones with Marmite Butter.

How much is the book and where can you buy it?

You can purchase the hardback book for £14.63 and the ebook copy for £9.99 from Amazon. Do check back as prices do fluctuate on Amazon.
